Bringing a bit of Bonnie Scotland to the Big Smoke

Who we are
Who we are
We are a group of reeling enthusiasts in London who meet every fortnight to teach, share and enjoy Scottish reels. Whether you want to learn the steps, are looking for a novel method of exercise, or just want to take part in a wonderfully energetic and sociable form of dancing, PGT is the best place to be.
Where we came from
Where we came from
PGT Reels - which originally stood for Parsons Green Teaches Reels - was set up many years ago by Scots in London keen to get their friends dancing. We recently moved from our traditional home in Fulham to the more central climes of South Kensington, where we continue to set, spin, and swirl the nights away.
When we meet
When we meet
PGT now hosts two sessions each month, one teaching and one social, on alternative Thursdays.  While reeling happens throughout the year, the London “season” begins in late September after the dust settles on the Scottish balls and we all return south. We break for summer in June. .
What is reeling?
What is reeling?
Reeling is probably the closest form of Scottish dancing to how dances were done in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is more fluid and less stilted than the Royal Scottish Dance Society style, yet more defined and formal than barn or ceilidh dances. Unlike the latter, callers are rarely included.

Everyone is welcome at PGT and has a right to enjoy reeling in a fun environment. PGT has a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal substances at our events, and the PGT Committee reserves the right to remove and/or refuse entry to anyone who has violated it.
